Graveyard Games by Sheri Leigh

I picked up this book on a whim, when my kindle wasn't completely full and gave it a whirl. Firstly it's well written and I enjoyed it. There were lots of twists, some predictable story-lines but in general lots of fun to read, slightly graphic but not so much it makes you squirm. The characters are relate-able and draw you into there backgrounds, you want to know the story of what makes them, them.

I liked the relationships between the characters, especially between Dusty and her brothers best friend. I love the tension between them and the way there story is built up. I like the mood set in the book, the way all the different characters respond to grief and trauma. It's true to life in that way, no one deals the same way. So grab a hot cocoa, snuggle under a blanket and settle in for a night and get to reading.

The synopsis of the book is:

Dusty has always been the hothead in the pair -- her twin, Nick, he was the calm, cool and collected one. But now Nick is dead, found murdered in their local cemetery, and Dusty, on forced leave from her job as a Chicago police officer, goes back to her childhood home to attend the funeral.

It becomes quickly apparent to Dusty that the local authorities aren’t being straight with her, or anyone else, about what’s been going on in the little Midwestern town she grew up in. The detective in her kicks in and she decides to find out what--or who--has killed her brother, so she moves in temporarily with her father and stepmother, takes a job in a local bar, and starts asking questions.

Yes from time to time the story is a little too slow paced or too fast paced, or a little off the mark, but for the most part the characters are solid, the story line is moving in the right direction and you will find it hard to put down, you'll want to know what happened and what will happen next.

Doglands by Tom Wilcox

Doglands a new book by Tom Wilcox.

I sat down and read this wonderfully heartwarming, heartwrenching tale in an afternoon. If you are an animal lover you are gonna be pulled in by the story for sure. My mother read it after me, and kept saying " Thankfullly I didn't read this when I was a kid, I would have constantly been freeing dogs to run free." I believe it too, that's just the way she is.

When the cruel owner of the camp recognizes Furgul's impure origins he takes Furgul to be killed, but Furgal manages a spectacular escape. I fell in love with Furgul. He is such a courageous puppy and you just want to root for him. I really love the way the author writes from a dogs point of view so you really feel connected to Furgul and to all the other characters. The other thing I loved is even though the story is about dogs, I know a lot of people can relate to the things the dog is going through, like not knowing his dad, wanting his mother to be proud of him, not understanding everything that is happening around him, and wanting to stand up and fight when no one else is willing too.

I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to my animal loving friends, its not a hard read and you won't be disappointed in the story telling.

I picked up this short story while it was free on Amazon awhile back.

I love paranormal stories and this is a fun werewolf story about alpha males, packleaders, emotions and love.

The main female character is stuck between family and love. The other main character is a loner werewolf who comes into the pack hoping to be left alone but his alpha type personality attracts the attention of the packs leader. The packleader sends his sister over to watch over the outcast and she falls for him.

I enjoyed this short story and recommend you pick it up.

Gossip Ghouls: Zombie & Lipstick by Z

A fun book, I'm not certain where I picked it up. It's on my kindle and seemed interesting so I decided to read it today while I had some free time.

It's kind of a mix between Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries and Paris Hilton's life.

The book is a quick read the only downfall is if you don't know all the designer names because they are dropped like candy constantly throughout the book.

There is so much cattiness, betrayal, backstabbing, vindictiveness throughout the book you are never sure who is on who's side.

The love story is between two zombies. The main character Z (who is also tagged as the writer of the book) is the main protagonist of the story and the supposed svior of the undead.

All the characters are high school students. So the only thing I had a small problem with was the slight unbelievabilty. I don't live in a billionaires world so I guess I can believe the other half really has that kind of crazy power and corruption.

The author has a giant imagination and each chapter is so thought out and so much energy. She reaally thinks a lot about high school students with unlimited funds would exact revenge against each other.

It's a fun teen paranormal read. Pick it up for a weekend and then maybe have a Gossip Girl marathon with friends.

Bewitching the Werewolf by Caroline Hanson

This is a really quick short story I picked up for free off of Amazon a few days ago. It looked cute. It's about a wiccan (now suspend belief if you practice because if you practice she's more superpower then practicing religion type) who is hired to help an alpha werewolf find his mate before the pack dissolves.

The story is funny and well written. The characters are formed entertainingly and are so different from each other and given such personalities.

It's a short story and even includes a excerpt of her new book. So pick it up.

Review of Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann

Last night I picked up Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann because it was something I grabbed to read when my boyfriend reads at night when Im at his place. I have finished 75% of it and will finish the rest of it tonight..

Synopsis:

My Review:
I liked the characters, the main character at times was believable and interesting to read. Her interactions with other characters helped build her background and gave life to other characters. I enjoyed the character development between Kendall and Jacian and the way they learn a lot from each other. I like the description of the town and the towns people like its a real tiny town.
The last 50 pages of the book is where the story finally takes a turn for what you've been waiting for. It wraps up nice and quickly.
I enjoyed reading the book it was a quick read and had a nice story and a little bit of a twist and paranormal to it to make you interested.
