Happy Easter

I am going to the Festival of Books next weekend.. and when I get back I plan to hold a mini contest for some of the swag I pick up.. I am also opening up my storage unit that has boxes of stuff from a convention I went to quite a few years ago and I have a ton of ARC's in there.. so I might even put up an old ARC for the giveaway..

I can't wait for the festival of books.. I really look forward to it every year.. so yay.. Look for my giveaway post in the coming weeks for some swag and maybe a book or two. :)

This is the next book I am reviewing. I can't wait to read it.. I have a large list from this month and now Im catching up.. as well as all the books I have sitting next to me that I just want to read because I bought them to read, not that the books Ive got for review didnt catch my eye and interest me to make me want to ask if I could review it.

Today I hit one of the book sales that was happening.. ($2 book bags .. how could I pass up, got 2 huge bags.. but not really much in the books I read department, got some for the little cousins in my life, some arc's in really great condition, some Anne Rice for the boyfriend since my copies of her books are in storage and other random stuff..I was sad there wasnt much I was interested in..)

Right now I have open Mixed Blessings and Safe Haven and should have both done before the weekend is over. :)

Sorry for the absense and the delay but Im alive again.. so look for more writing its coming. :)

H is for Happy Endings

I think when I was younger I read because of happy endings. I love a book with a happy ending where the hero gets the heroine.. and everyone lives happily ever after.

I do love books with sad endings though as well.. I love to cry.. or at least I love to get emotional.

Maybe i will add to this.. but i have food poisoning so im gonna stop here and lay back down..

G is for Glamourous

I think when I first started reading thats what I was looking for, characters who led glamourous lifes.. who could afford all the things in life that I couldn't. Now I always find characters that wear $300 dollar shoes a different pair every night of the week to seem a tad unreal unless the character has a real reason to have the bank to roll that kind of life.
I love the glamour of a book. The characters and their soiree's and lives with things I can only dream of. It's nice to be taken to a world for a short while that has nice clothes, cars, people instead of my normal clothing, shoes, used car life. Not that I'm complaining I love the people in my life :)

Mixed Blessings by Lainey Baincroft Review

I received this book from an author and asked for nicely for a review. So this is the next book I am reviewing.

The synopsis on Smashwords.com

Daniela Blessing’s ability to see crimes through the eyes of victims is a mixed blessing. She thinks she’s a handmaiden of Fate, but when Vincent Gabriele accosts her one sunny morning he calls it eye for an eye justice. He’s willing to keep her secrets—if she helps him. Despite his blackmail tactics, Danni would help, except her psychic abilities evaporate whenever Vincent is around. As truths emerge unlocking Vincent’s past, some of Danni’s history is also revealed. They’ve been intrinsically tied in the past, and their future is about to become a Destiny neither of them expected.

My Review. 4/11 - have severe food poisoning.. so blogging will be on hold.. except my extremely short a-z posts so i dont get behind..
Going to say that just the description caught me. definitely looks like something I would be interested in reading. Come back by shortly.. for my review :)

F is for Fire

I love me a little bit of fiery romance in a novel. I admit.. I kinda like the hunky man saving the day.. I love fiery romance scenes.. It makes me smile and think happy thoughts. :)
I love when a character is fiery and passionate about something/anything. I love fiery people it's gotta be there for me... doesn't matter what they're fiery about.. it could be killing for all i care as long as they're fiery and passionate about it.. (not that i condone killing.. so dont do it)

E is for Engaging

A book has to be engaging to get me to want to read it.. Usually has to have a catcher at the beginning something to catch my attention and reel me in so I keep reading. I love books that start with humor cause I love humor. I love a good joke. I love sarcasm.. I'm super sarcastic in real life and my boyfriend is worst then me when it comes to joking around.

Books bring you to another world and fulfill that need to get away from real life if just for an hour or two each day.

D is for Dark Places

I'm a huge fan of dark scary places.. it's probably why I love paranormal and fantasy books. There is a world where things aren't always as they seem. Dark Alleys are either just as scary as real life or the place where to wonderfully tempting vampires have a meet each night before they go and stalk their pray.

I love horror books set in dark scary towns that have lots of foreboding in them.. It's always a fun place to be .. well not for the characters but for the readers. I love the way a setting of a book can set the mood and make or break a story really.

C is for Character Development

I am really one for character development. You have to have a character in a book that is someone you can really see as real to get pulled into the story.. they have to have flaws and strengths like real people. It's I guess why movies are usually more popular then the book, people have an easier time with relating to someone they can see rather then someone they have to imagine in there head.

I am a sucker for character development.. I think David Eddings in his series The Elenium does a fantastic job of bringing to life the main character Sparhawk.. who I know I've mentioned before but I'm a really huge fan. Sparhawks character is so well developed and through the series you see the character grow and change which sucks you in.. I have the Elenuim sitting on my bed so I can take it to my boyfriends and let him read it because I can't stop telling people to read it cause I feel that strongly about it.

Review Undead and Unappreciated by Mary Janice Davidson

This is my first review on here.. suggested by someone I've known since I was a wee one. She told me its one of her favorites so I went over to the Library and picked it up.

Synopsis from the front flap of the copy I got from the library.
Most women would love to live as royalty, but Betsy has found that being vampire queen has more problems then perks, except for always being awake for the Midnight Madness sales. It may be easy to find blood (yuck) in the dark of night, but try finding a strawberry smoothie. And employees at her nightclub Scratch have giving her nothing but grief since she killed their former boss. Some people....
But Betsy's "life" takes an interesting turn at a shower for her wicked stepmother, who lets if slip that Betsy has a long-lost half sister. Now twenty years old, this would just so happens to be the devil's daughter and destined to rule the world.

My Review -
Last night it was snuggle and read night with the boyfriend.. so I finally got a chance to pick this up. I must say very humorous and a quick read. I finished it before bed.. it's only 271 pages.

The Main character Betsy is funny, sarcastic, lovable, emotional and enjoyable. Mary Janice really does a good job of wrapping you up in her world. I love the interactions between all the characters, the nicknames the happiness, anger, fear and sadness all the characters go through.

There's a lot of internal dialogue in the book so you get to see a lot of what she is thinking which is fun cause she's a very funny character.

I enjoyed the story a lot. It was very engaging, sarcastic, funny, thoughtful, interesting. The characters had life and brought you in. The story ran quickly while you got to know a little bit about different characters and the backstories. Which was fun and entertaining. You also got to learn a little bit about the lives of the characters and what they enjoy and collect. (Betsy likes clothing and especially shoes.)

I like that this book is a light read with humor and some romance. It doesn't take itself too seriously. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick read. (but don't be like me.. pick up the first 2 first.. I'm going to do that.. when I go back to the library.)

I really can't wait to read the rest of the series. I definitely give this a paw up :)

B is for Bloodsucking

I'm part of the Vampire Challenge 2011.. and now I'm on a search for vampire books. I know I will pick up the Charlaine Harris Books because I've been meaning to read them. But other then that Im not really sure where to got from there.. I have been out of the loop for a while on good books.. so now here I am .. searching searching searching for 20 books I can't wait to review.. let alone can't wait to read. I love to read and I love Vampires.. they've always been a fascination of mine.. maybe cause I find neck biting so sexy. I mean I did have a thing all through high school for the man that played Dracula at Universal Studios. I was crushed to find out he was
married after he spent so many days wooing me :( but it didn't darken my love the bloodsucking men of the night.

So help me out.. I'm looking for some good Vampire books to read. I don't mind dark, romantic, bloody, scary.. I'd prefer not sparkly..
Well I will go out and search some today .. Let's see what I come up with :)

Looking to have me review?

If you'd like for me to review a book then you may email ebooks to me at raynekitten@gmail.com... or you can send an email to me and ask for my mailing address if you'd like to send a real copy of the book. If you'd like for my review to be put up on my blog on a certain date then please make sure you let me know this, as well. Please give me a couple of weeks if you'd like it reviewed by a certain date. I am willing to review everything. Please when emailing me put in the Title Book for review.. or something like that.. so I dont miss it.

Ebooks and old paper books are both fine with me. I have a amazon kindle that I use to read ebooks, which means I can read any form of ebook. I prefer kindle versions, but .pdf is also fine... but I can make other forms work. I prefer non ebooks only cause then I can carry then with me when I'm out, but I won't turn down a ebook.

I review books honestly, and whether I pay for them, they are sent to me, or I rent them from the library it will not affect the review. I will try to say nice things about books I don't particularly like. I figure you can always find at least one good thing to say about anything. But know I will be honest in how I write my review, since they are my own words and opinions.

Books I got today at the Library...

Ok.. so I stopped by the library to pick up

Undead and Unappreciated by Mary Janice Davidson
Undead and Unreturnable by Mary Janice Davidson

for my Vampire challenge as suggested by a good friend of mine.

Then I noticed the sale side had a ton of great books for sale, so of course I went a bit overboard.. and bought about 20 which works great cause now I can review quite a few books over the next few weeks from my home without worrying about having to leave the house.

I will list them all in a bit.. but I'm a bit too busy at this very moment to take them all out of there bags.. I need to get a bigger bookcase.

Today's qiestion:
"Since today is April Fool's Day in the USA, what is the best prank you have ever played on someone OR that someone has played on you?"

My friends and I were cruel to each other in school. One year we woke my friend up early and dressed her up like a clown (she was one of those groggy not really awake til my coffee kinda people).. she got us back 1 by 1.. she wrapped a gift for me in air conditioning duct tape.. the gift was soap.. so i ripped up my hands and it hurt so bad.. she made my friends car into a cow by painting it with whipped cream and chocolate syrup.. but we always had a crazy time.
