Review Undead and Unappreciated by Mary Janice Davidson

This is my first review on here.. suggested by someone I've known since I was a wee one. She told me its one of her favorites so I went over to the Library and picked it up.

Synopsis from the front flap of the copy I got from the library.
Most women would love to live as royalty, but Betsy has found that being vampire queen has more problems then perks, except for always being awake for the Midnight Madness sales. It may be easy to find blood (yuck) in the dark of night, but try finding a strawberry smoothie. And employees at her nightclub Scratch have giving her nothing but grief since she killed their former boss. Some people....
But Betsy's "life" takes an interesting turn at a shower for her wicked stepmother, who lets if slip that Betsy has a long-lost half sister. Now twenty years old, this would just so happens to be the devil's daughter and destined to rule the world.

My Review -
Last night it was snuggle and read night with the boyfriend.. so I finally got a chance to pick this up. I must say very humorous and a quick read. I finished it before bed.. it's only 271 pages.

The Main character Betsy is funny, sarcastic, lovable, emotional and enjoyable. Mary Janice really does a good job of wrapping you up in her world. I love the interactions between all the characters, the nicknames the happiness, anger, fear and sadness all the characters go through.

There's a lot of internal dialogue in the book so you get to see a lot of what she is thinking which is fun cause she's a very funny character.

I enjoyed the story a lot. It was very engaging, sarcastic, funny, thoughtful, interesting. The characters had life and brought you in. The story ran quickly while you got to know a little bit about different characters and the backstories. Which was fun and entertaining. You also got to learn a little bit about the lives of the characters and what they enjoy and collect. (Betsy likes clothing and especially shoes.)

I like that this book is a light read with humor and some romance. It doesn't take itself too seriously. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick read. (but don't be like me.. pick up the first 2 first.. I'm going to do that.. when I go back to the library.)

I really can't wait to read the rest of the series. I definitely give this a paw up :)

  2. I, too, was excited to read the entire series once I had read the first. However, now that I am "up to date," I am completely disappointed!!! I hope the next 2 books rectify this disturbing turn of events!
